Nail fungus

 

Nail fungus, which is known by doctors as Onychomycosis, is mostly spread among older people and it almost never occurs among children. Nail fungus occurs when bacteria get though the nail defense and develop beneath in warm and dump area inside the person’s shoes.

 

The symptoms it causes include changing its coloring (yellowing, browning), thickening or thinning and even nail shedding. Most commonly it infects toenails than fingernails.

 

It is rather hard to cure so you’d better prevent it. Wearing swimming shoes or protective sandals and avoiding wearing someone’s shoes or socks can keep your nails safe from fungus.

 

You should regularly wash your feet and dry them well. Polishing the toenails is not recommended as in that case fungus can easily get though the nail defense. Before trimming you toenails make sure you disinfect your pedicure tool.

 

In case you’ve got nail fungus, you should see your doctor. He will prescribe you appropriate treatment such as medicated nail polish or oral antifungal medication. You should be very careful working on this treatment plan and regularly consult your doctor because side effects can occur. Infected nail should be removed only in severe cases.
